July 2013: Camster wind farm is now fully operational.
June 2013: All turbines are now fully constructed.
A planning application and associated Environmental Statement was submitted to the Highland Council in December 2004.
The Camster wind farm would:
Provide electricity equivalent to about 35,000 homes *
Save more than 71,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year**
Contribute to Scottish Government Renewable Energy Targets (31% by 2011, 50% by 2020).
Provide a community benefit fund over the lifetime of the project.
Aid the local and regional economy through construction contracts and further operations and maintenance work for local contractors.

(2012) Caithness Spittal Hill wind farm plans rejected The area already has Causeymire, Flex Hill and Achairn wind farms, while one at CAMSTER has planning consent and another farm has been proposed for Halsary.
CAMSTER Wind Farm Completed Windhoist have recently competed the erection of 25 Vestas MK7a wind turbines to 78m hub height at CAMSTER Wind Farm.
Wind farm 'would affect Wick airport' The other farms are at Forss, Causeymire, Boulfruich, Flexhill, Achairn, Baillie, CAMSTER, Bettyhill, Strathy North, Strathy South, South Shebster, Hill of Lieurary, Burn of Whilk, Stroupster, Bower, Durran, Olgrinmore, Halsary and Wathegar.
