The site is located on farm land at the southern end of the Clocaenog forest, Denbighshire in North Wales and lies within Area A of the Strategic Search Area (SSA) as designated by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) in Technical Advice Note 8 (TAN 8).
Planning Permission for the development, comprising ten 2MW class machines has now been issued and works to meet pre-commencement planning conditions have begun.
When commissioned, Derwydd Bach will contribute about 17% of the 2010 WAG target of 140MW for Area A and meet the annual electricity for the equivalent of over 14,000 homes in the North Wales region of the SP Manweb distribution network.
