Lightsource Renewable Energy has submitted five separate applications for rows of photovoltaic solar panels at rural locations around the district.
16 hectare site. Powering up to 900 homes.
Commissioning date - unsure, up and running in Aug 13 certainly.
Lightsource is reported as having got planning permission, AEE is reported as the installer. Hazel Capital provided financing (http://www.hazelcapital.com/news/55mw-ayshford-court-project/)
The applications could generate 6.5 megawatts – enough to power almost 2,000 homes.
This would not be the first solar farm venture in Mid Devon, planning permission was granted last June for a 5mw solar farm on land at Ayshford Court Farm, near Sampford Peverell. Since then, while there have been applications for small individual schemes, these are the first applications large enough to be classed as solar 'farms'.
The two largest schemes are at Broadgate, Morchard Bishop, and Higher Pirzwell, Kentisbeare, both of which would have a generation capacity of 1.5mw.

July 2013: A syndicate of private investors alongside the Hazel VCTs invested £7.4m in developing and constructing this 5.5MW ground-mounted solar farm in Devon known as Ayshford Court. The farm was operational, grid connected and cash generating in March 2013 and qualified for the 2.0 ROC subsidy scheme.
