2013: The proposal is for the construction and operation of a Solar Farm with a 10 MW capacity; this would provide enough electricity to supply 2500 homes. The land is currently used for grazing sheep and the design of the solar farm will allow this use to continue once construction is complete, in order to maintain agricultural production and manage the grass beneath the arrays.
Approximately 37,000 panels will be set at fixed angles with the top edge no more than 3m above ground. The rows of panels will be fastened to metal supports which will be driven in to the ground and there will be no other foundation requirements.
