Wind Turbines, Wind Farm, Renewable Energy, Green Power

Construction on the site began in October 2010 and the turbine installer Windhoist completed the mechanical and electrical installation of the 13 wind turbines in December 2011.

Located approx 2km north of Ashington, Northumberland, adjacent to the Rio Tinto Alcan Lynemouth Smelter, the windfarm will comprise of up to 13 turbines with the capacity to produce 30MW of clean green energy, enough to power over 16,000 homes.

The turbines will stand at 121m (397ft). The nearby smelter chimneys are 80m (262ft) in height while the Alcan power station stack is 114m (374ft) high.

Construction started October 2010, Turbine deliveries to site will commence in summer 2011
