Green light for £65m BARNSLEY waste wood to energy plant
Members of the council’s planning board voted to approve the plans last week (June 2), which will see a 20MW Renewable Energy Centre capable of processing 150,000 tonnes of waste wood each year built on the former Houghton Main Colliery in BARNSLEY.

Plans by Peel Environmental to develop a £65m Renewable Energy Centre at the site of the former Houghton Main Colliery in BARNSLEY have been given the green light by BARNSLEY Council.

REpower and Banks Renewables sign contracts for two wind farms
. Hazlehead wind farm, 11 miles from BARNSLEY, will consist of three REpower MM82 turbines, whilst the slightly larger Marr development, near Doncaster, will consist of four MM92 turbines.
