With more than 21,000 solar panels, the £15 million site, based at Langage Energy Park in Plympton is capable of generating 5MW of energy, which Yorkshire-based power-project developer, Carlton Power, has already begun exporting to the National Grid.
The solar park was constructed over a three month period by the UK subsidiary of German company Gehrlicher Solar AG, with the support of groundworks contractors Landscape Matters which is based at Langage.
Adding to the ever-increasing number of large-scale solar parks in the UK, Gehrlicher Solar has completed the Langage Solar Park 5MW, located near Plymouth. Built on an area of 14 hectares the project is expected to produce 4.95 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy each year, providing solar power to approximately 1,400 households.
